Meet The Team: Ann Fairweather

Meet Ann. She is a Senior Accountant at Ōmokoroa Accounting.

After seven years of commuting into Tauranga for work, she decided it was time to ‘get off the road.’ She has been with Ōmokoroa Accounting for 18 months and loves now being able to walk to work,. It’s great having her as part of the team.

To contact Ann email office@omokoroaaccounting.co.nz.

Tell us about your background.

I am a member of CAANZ . I trained with KPMG many years ago. I have 10 years of experience as a chartered accountant. I spent the last 16 years working as the Group Accountant for a large retail and commercial property management company.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I've always enjoyed numbers (I’m a bit of a nerd!) so accounting was an easy choice for me. There is a great team here at Ōmokoroa Accounting so it was easy to settle back into an accounting office. While we certainly get the job done, the office has a casual environment and it’s always nice to have clients drop in.

What are you most proud of?

I was the cluster accountant for Mount Maunganui schools when Tomorrow Schools was introduced (showing my age here!!). Producing the financial procedures, cashflows, and reports for the schools was an accomplishment I enjoyed, as I love helping people.

What’s the best piece of advice you would give someone considering accounting services?

Meet any prospective Accountant you are considering and make sure you feel comfortable. Qualifications speak for themselves but you want to be able to ask your advisor anything and feel you are listened to and not just a number.

Outside of work, what can you be found doing on the weekend?

I love walking around Ōmokoroa especially when there is a coffee somewhere along the way. I'm a foodie so I enjoy cooking, including baking cakes and decorating them for friends and family birthdays.

Tell us something about you, that people might be surprised to know.

I learnt to dive in my 20s and was a member of the Mount Dive Club for many years. The best dive I've had was a night dive on the Great Barrier Reef out of Townsville, Australia.
